Metal detector hunter's £1.3MILLION coin find declared official treasure trove - and he'll get a big share

A huge hoard of silver coins dating back 1,000 years has been declared an official treasure trove.
Paul Coleman, 60, found a lead basket containing the 5,248 Anglo-Saxon silver pennies with his metal detector.
Some experts put the value of the find at £1.3million, of which Mr Coleman can expect to receive a large share.
Mr Coleman told a treasure trove inquest he almost did not join the Weekend Wanderers metal detector club trip in December.
But he was glad he did when he stumbled across the valuable ­collection, dating back to the reign of Ethelred the Unready in the 990s.
He said: “When the detector started beeping, it felt like the size of a manhole cover and that caused me to nearly not dig it up.”
Mr Coleman, of Southampton, said some of the coins were coincidentally inscribed with his surname and added: “I joked that the hoard had my name on it – I didn’t realise it literally did.”
Coroner Richard Hulett ruled the “exceptional” find was treasure, meaning that it goes to the Crown.
However, ­Buckinghamshire County Museum in Aylesbury is set to bid for the coins.
The value will be decided in January and Mr Coleman and the can expect to receive a reward.
In 2009, Terry Herbert dug up 3,500 silver and gold items in Staffordshire.
He and farmer Fred Johnson shared £3.3million after Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery bought the collection.
